When Charles Darwin published his famous work On the Origin of Species in 1859, he did not yet dare to say that humans were also the result of evolution. This came twelve years later in his book On the Descent of Man. In it, among other things, he wrote that the upright gait is one of the most distinctive features of humanity. .
