I study the interplay between host ecology and viral epidemiological dynamics. I use a combination of field research, genetic methods, and long-term data analysis to investigate hypotheses pertaining to the transmission and evolution of RNA viruses within and among non-human primate hosts. I am currently performing field research on wild chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, Uganda, in order to investigate the role that female-biased dispersal plays in RNA virus transmission dynamics.
